We’ll start with a few words about Biden, assuming he is ultimately elected. As a person, Biden is indeed friendly and decent. However, he has never shown much imagination or vision. Remember for instance that Biden voted in favour of intervention in Iraq in 2003 and enthusiastically backed China joining the WTO in 2001, based on the belief that in China political democratisation would follow economic liberalisation.
